This is probably from the collection printed by Pierre Francois Basan(1723-1797) between 1789 and 1797. It is less likely from the collection printed by his son, Henri Louis Basan, between 1805 and 1810. on Rembrandt's The Flight into Egypt (Crossing the Brook, 1654)--according to "Rembrandt: The Late Works (Edited by Jonathan Bikker, Gregor J.M. Weber, Marjorie E. Wieseman, and Erik Hinterding)", page 188- the artwork in question is technically three things in one: It is an engraving***, an etching, and via drypoint etching (a specific subclass or method of etching). |
